Principal's message - week 36
Greetings North Plains Families!
Spring is here and things are heating up! So much going on this month so be sure to look below!
Our book fair is happening next week and volunteers are needed! Please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040b4caca92aa64-spring1 to help out.
Remember that spring photos happen next Wed. Only students who return packets will be photographed, with the exception of 6th grade. Every 6th grade student will get their picture taken so it can be part of the completion certificate. There are no make ups for this day, so please be here!
April 12 is the end of the 3rd quarter, so there is no school on Friday so teachers can prepare for the end of the year.
Also April 12 is the Volunteer appreciation dinner at Jesse Mays. This event is from 5:30 - 8 and there is a free spaghetti dinner for all who attend. Please join me in supporting our nominee for Volunteer of the Year, Grandpa Ron!
April 17 is our kinder orientation, so please encourage people you know with incoming kinders to attend! We will begin at 6:00 PM
April 19 is the Crystal Apple dinner (not free!) where we will support our own Rachel Creisen! If you plan to attend, be sure to get your ticket in advance as they are not available at the door.
A note from Kevin Zeurcher:
Due to the incoming weather that will effect the sports fields this coming Saturday, we have decided to postpone the work day until we have a string of nice weather. At that time, we may need to move quickly to get a work party together. If you would like to be contacted for that work party, please email kzerker@gmail.com and I will create a master email list to contact everyone.
Thank you for your willingness to help. Unfortunately, the weather does not always cooperate with us. :)
If you are looking for opportunities for summer, check out this link which tells about reading programs over the summer. This would be great for any student, but especially if your child struggles with reading! http://tinyurl.com/SummerReadingPrograms2018
If you have a 6th grader, remember that Evergreen is hosting their welcome night on Monday, April 23 at 7:00 PM.
And finally, state testing starts next week! Hopefully your child's teacher has communicated the schedule with you, but if not, please ask! It's important students have plenty of rest and a good breakfast on testing days, (and every day!), so you should have the schedule. Also, if you have headphones, including earbuds, that you can send with your child on testing days, that would be helpful as well. If you have any questions about state testing, please be sure and ask!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Becky
