Superintendent's Coffee
Square Bowl
Wednesday and Thursday Schedule
Due to the early 11:45 am dismissal this Thursday we will not have block days this week. Wednesday we will use the regular seven-period day schedule we use Mondays/Tuesdays/Fridays. On Thursday, students will report to their second period like usual, but will remain there for special activities.
Here is the schedule:
8:25-10:40: Special activities by grade level
10:40-11:10: Lunch
11:13-11:45: Wrap up activities
DORA/DOMA
8th grade students who placed into English Intensive I or Intervention ELA will take the DORA (Diagnostic Online Reading Assessment) this week. This is a second chance to see if these students can place into English 1. The Sequoia Union High School District will use seventh grade SBAC scores if they are better than their placement test(s).
Similarly, 8th grade students who placed into Algebra Readiness instead of Algebra I will take the DOMA (Diagnostic Online Math Assessment) this week. Again, a qualifying SBAC score can place students into Algebra I.
Both the DORA and DOMA are untimed and online, unlike the first placement tests. Below are the criteria charts for incoming 9th graders for Language Arts and Math placements for the Sequoia Union High School District.
Aladdin Jr.
Congratulations and great job to the cast, crew, directors, and parents of Aladdin Jr. The show, sets, and costumes were wonderful. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Staff and families were very proud and impressed. Below are some of the pictures. (Thank you, Ginny Curtin). Fish and Richardson offers three scholarships to 7th graders to attend Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. The scholarships include full tuition for the six-day program, roundtrip airfare between SFO and Huntsville, and a Space Camp flight suit. The program is offered to those who are interested in math, science, and technology. The Space Camp program takes place July 19-24, 2020. Space campers will have the opportunity to train for a simulated space shuttle mission, train in astronaut space simulators, conduct experiments in physics, atmospheric and environmental sciences, and build rockets. During the lunch time meetings, the application process will be explained and applications will be passed out.
The first lunch meetings will be this Tuesday and Friday in Mr. Baquero’s room, 315. Below is a flier with more information.
