January 2019
From the Principal's Desk...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I wish all Pine Island Families a new year filled with hope and promise!! Welcome Back. Hoping everyone had the time to relax and rest up! Here, at school, we are ready to make 2019 a year filled with success through hard work and dedication by providing students with daily opportunities to grow. The hard work is the responsibility of all of us- teachers, students, staff, families, and administrators. I know that together we can make learning an exciting venture!!

Weather Closing Information
When there is a cancellation of school due to inclement weather, please watch or listen carefully to the names of the school districts. There is a district in Kalamazoo County named Comstock Public Schools. We are always identified as Comstock Park Public Schools in Kent County. If your information is current in Powerschool, you will also receive a message from our messaging system when we are closed.
Service Projects
Our students did some amazing service projects already this school year! We collected over 500 food items and over 400 household toiletry items for families in our community. What a great message we are sending to our future leaders about giving back! Be on the lookout for our next project!

Dress for the Weather
Please be sure to send students to school appropriately dressed for the weather. Our students spend time outside during the school day and it is very important that they come to school with proper clothing for the season. A warm coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, and boots are all necessary items during the winter months. Please have items clearly marked with your child's name. Our school policy is that they students go outside for recess unless the temperature or windchill is 0 or below.
