Final Official VEX Tournament of the Season

Big picture
TUSD Robotics hosted our 5th and final official VEX tournament of the season this past weekend with teams representing both middle and high school teams from around Southern California. This late-season tournament displays months of learning how to best play the game "In The Zone" and many iterations of robots and programming code. The final matches came down to a 3-team alliance consisting of all Foothill teams versus a 3-team alliance consisting of 2 Beckman teams and an outside team from Pasadena. Beckman had a robot that tipped over in the first final match while Foothill had a robot that lost connection to the joystick in the second final match, leading to a third match where Foothill took the tournament championship title in a score of 142 to 91.

Congratulations to all of the teams who built working robots and scored points on the field this season. Although we celebrate the awards won, in reality, every student who participates in the TUSD Robotics program has won the ultimate prize of learning valuable skills such as teamwork, effective communication, documentation of the iterative engineering design process, computer programming, troubleshooting, and resiliency. We could not be more proud of our TUSD Robotics students who consistently demonstrate these real-world skills and our TUSD Robotics coaches who help our students acquire these skills to become future ready.

A special thanks to our secondary TUSD Robotics coaches including:
