Including High-Functioning Students with ASD
If you’ve seen one child with autism, you’ve seen one child…
Students with high-functioning ASD present specific challenges to regular and special educators. This session will specifically review the characteristics of high-functioning student with ASD and discuss specific strategies to support their inclusion in the general education setting.

“So, you’ll have a student with ASD next year…” Planning
This session will present strategies and ideas to teach, support and include students with ASD. Instructional strategies will be reviewed as well as social and communication supports. This session is targeted toward primary level teachers who will be working with students as part of a transition to school-age programs.

Autistic Support Networking
The second of a 2-day session for teachers of students with ASD. This two-session meeting provides a time for teachers to be updated on current issues and practices for students with ASD as well as time to network with other professionals. Planning for the 2016-2017 school year will also take place.

Introduction to Social Stories / Visual Support *Make & Take Session
Social stories and visual supports provide a framework for students with disabilities, particularly those with ASD, to make sense of social situations and to understand the rules/processes they need to follow. This session will provide an overview of social stories and different kinds of visual supports. Additionally, participants will be able to develop some supports to take with them.
