Mrs. Cormack's Class Newsletter

For the Week of May 20th-24th

What We Will Be Learning This Week.....

Math: This week we will be reviewing place value skills. We had so much fun last week with the games and all the hands-on manipulatives that we are going to keep going with it! Everyday, students will be doing a "third grade" style warm-up, followed by a place value game, ending with a problem of the day.

Reading: DRAMA! This week, we will learn all about drama! Students will understand how drama is punctuated in relation to narrative stories with dialogue that students are accustomed to reading. They will also understand that instead of using illustrations to enhance the story, drama calls upon live performers to use accents and gestures to bring the story to life. Monday-Tuesday, we will learn about the elements of a drama and how to read it. Wednesday-Friday, students will get to participate in Readers' Theaters and perform them for the class!

Writing: This week, we will write and respond to prompts, using the writing process. We will also complete our Write Source book, focusing on capitalization skills.

Social Studies: For our last week of Social Studies, we will use our textbook to finish our Economics Unit, focusing on "People at Work".
