Grade 8 Team Building at Hale Reservation

This past Friday, our grade 8 scholars took a bus ride down to Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA. This day is a special opportunity, carved out in the schedule for all grade 8 students across the Academy. Students are able to spend the day, getting to know their fellow classmates at other Campuses through team building activities and explore outdoor education. It also certainly helped that God provided us with a gorgeous, almost 70 degree day in November! It was a proud moment for SJP2CA, the Hale Reservation Director shared that this is always one of his favorite days of the year! He continued to talk about the exemplar behaviors and attitudes of our students as well as their willingness to try new things while being courageous!

This was a #ProudCatholicSchoolPrincipal moment.

All Saints Day #WeAreSaintsandScholars

This past Wednesday, November 1st was All Saints Day. Students in K2 to grade 8 celebrated a Parish Mass at Saint Gregory's with Father Daily. This Holy Day of Obligation is dedicated to all of the Saints of the Church who are now in Heaven. Let us remember Saint Charles Borromeo's as his Feast Day was yesterday, "We must meditate before, during, and after everything we do. The prophet says, I will pray, and then I will understand. This is the way we can easily overcome the countless difficulties we have to face day after day, which, after all, are part of our work. In meditation, we find the strength to bring Christ to birth in ourselves and others."

Lower Mills Innovative Teacher Spotlight

We are blessed to have Ms. Rose Curran as part of the Early Childhood team at Lower Mills! This is Ms. Curran's second year as the Lead Teacher in PreK-B but third year with SJP2CA. Ms. Curran joined the Academy with extensive training and experience as both a Lead Preschool teacher and Preschool Director at a daycare on the South Shore. Ms. Curran and Mrs. Lorre are known as the "Dream Team" here at SJP2CA Lower Mills. Their classroom models a beautiful balance of academic rigor and social-emotional growth, both equally important in Early Childhood. Ms. Curran is part of the Lynch Early Childhood Project where she receives weekly observation and feedback on fine tuning her curriculum craft and creating the best possible classroom community for all students. Ms. Curran is known for being extremely patient and introducing accommodations in her classroom such as flexible seating, brain breaks and sensory learning extensions to name a few. Ms. Curran is the youngest of two and is the proud Aunt of a niece and nephew who she absolutely adores! You can always find Ms. Curran at school, she works countless hours in the after-school program as well as the summer program. She also is the instructor for our after-school Yoga Club! Fun fact: Ms. Curran is an avid golfer! She also loves reading and you can always find her with a new book in her hand. Since the unexpected loss of her mom last year, Ms. Curran has continued to live out the mission of our school to a T. Her mother believed in Catholic Education and was always so proud of Ms. Curran for living out her dream and becoming a Early Childhood teacher.
