We have a new Wildcat!!!

Just today, Emily and her husband learned that they have been chosen by a birth family. They are heading to Dallas tomorrow to pick up Graham Henry Raschke. Graham is a perfectly healthy little boy who was born on October 4th. He was 8 pounds and 20 inches. Emily has promised to share a picture when she has one.

Be the One!

As I sat and listened to Dr. Saenz on Monday, I couldn't help but think of some of our students that are living through their own struggles, day in and day out. From the beginning, I was very impressed by Dr. Saenz's story. Despite everything that he didn't have, everything that happened in his life and every statistic that says HE would most likely fail, he made it! He is, without question, a SUCCESS!

Coming back to our students. I want so desperately for those that are living through similar struggles to find a way. Undoubtedly, it will be hard, and we all know the odds are stacked against them. But Dr. Saenz is proof that it is not impossible. One of the things that stood out to me were the two letters that his teachers wrote him. At a difficult time, these letters sparked something inside of him, giving him strength to start a new journey that ultimately led him to where he is today.

As educators, we never know how our words might affect a student, but isn't it amazing to know that they could have a HUGE impact? Our words have an incredible amount of power to trigger change for the better. Keep caring about students, keep going above and beyond, and hopefully, someday, one of our Wildcats will be a SUCCESS despite the odds. Be the ONE to help make it happen!
