10/12/18: Career & College News
MN Goes to College
October is College Knowledge Month in Minnesota.
What does this mean for you????
It means you have a chance to learn more about the opportunities that await you after high school graduation, and plan a way to reach your goals.
Once you’ve thought about the subjects and activities you like best, the next step is to look for careers that put those interests to use.
- What are the careers that match your strengths and interests?
- How can you get hands-on exposure to them?
- What type of training is needed for these careers?
These things can help you understand a career better:
- Career Camps
- Career Exploration Classes
- Informational Interviews
- Volunteering
- Internships
- College Tours
OUR GPA: GRIT, POTENTIAL & AMBITION
While we have a required 2.4 grade point average, Dell Scholars targets low-income, highly motivated students who are better than their numbers indicate and demonstrate the drive to succeed despite personal obstacles. Our Scholars have demonstrated a unique "GPA" of grit, potential, and ambition in their quest for a college education:
- Grit by overcoming personal challenges in their lives related to their families, schools, or communities
- Potential by participating in college readiness programs and seeking out academic rigor
- Ambition by dreaming of obtaining a college degree
