READING
LANGUAGE ARTS
This week, in language arts classes, we will analyze pieces of text using a class list of common annotations. We will create ROK cards for the week on “Word Wednesday”. On Friday, we will complete our second AOW (Article of the Week) and create a public service announcement on how children can avoid illnesses, stressing the importance of washing your hands.
MATH
In Course 2 this coming week, 7th graders will be working on proportional and nonproportional relationships. They will then have a Mid-Chapter check on Wednesday. The end of the week will have students graphing proportional relationships as we move towards the end of Chapter 1.
Accelerated 7 students will once again complete three lessons in order to prepare for our test coming on September 17th. The three lessons are “Problem-Solving Strategies,” “Ordered Pairs and Relations”, and “Words, Equations, Tables, and Graphs.”
For more on what happened in math class this week, see below!
SOCIAL STUDIES
This week we will be writing an essay to answer our essential question, “How did the first Americans adapt to their environment?”. We will take our Chapter 1 multiple-choice test on Tuesday.
Wednesday we will learn about heroes of the attacks on September 11, 2001.
Thursday and Friday we will be starting to learn about European exploration.
SCIENCE
This week we will be preparing for an investigation that will be ongoing for the next couple months. Students will review observation skills and meet with their new lab groups to create norms (expectations) they will follow when working with each other. More details about the investigation to come...I don’t want to reveal all my secrets quite yet ;)
