November 16-20
Conferences
I have a jam-packed schedule, so please arrive at your scheduled time. Also, let me know if you are not going to make it.
If possible, please bring your 5th grader with to our conference. I like for students to take part in their conference. I find that it helps students to take ownership of their own learning when they can be a part of the conversation.
The Book Fair will be taking place in the media center during the conference evenings. Check it out!
Report Cards
Please sign the envelope and keep the report card. The students will get punches on their punch cards for returning a signed envelope on Tuesday,
If you have questions, please let me know at our scheduled conference.

What are we working on this week?
Character Education: Responsibility/Citizenship
Reader's Workshop: Working on inferencing, visualizing, and learning about the genre of historical fiction. Students should always have a chapter book to read at school (from our media center, home, my classroom library, the public library, etc.)
Spelling/Word Study: We will be starting a three week long word study unit. It will be Week #24. The test will NOT take place until the week of November 30-December 4. Please still encourage your child to study each night and work on the word study skill.
Writer's Workshop: We will be starting an Informational Unit of writing. Students will be researching information about an animal. Students will need to check-out an animal book at the media center during our book check-out this week.
Math: Unit 3 - Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers and Decimals
Science: Unit 4 - How Living Things Grow and Reproduce
Social Studies/Health: these subjects are taught by Mrs. Kornder. Please check your child's agenda daily to see if they have homework in this area.
