Sacred Heart School
Week of January 22nd
Our March for Life
My first reaction was to jump into the twitter storm. But thankfully, I greatly struggle to compose 140 word tweets, and it took me too long to come up with something to say.
My second reaction was to plan a week long summer institute on Respect to Life issues, and visit the Museum of the Native American Indian, Holocaust Museum, Museum of African American History and Culture, and the American History Museum.... and invite the boys from Covington Catholic to join.
But, thankfully, that's not something you can plan overnight.
My third reaction was just to dig my heels in at Sacred Heart.
I found myself reflecting on and gravitating towards our mission statement.
Empowered families
Just and Compassionate World
Inclusive Catholic Environment
Innovative
Yes.
Instead of focusing on those boys - I want to just focus on our little school.
This mission we are on... this is our March for Life.
Our day after day quest to teach our children how to show love. How to embrace their brothers and their sisters. How to love their school family, no matter where they come from or what they might be going through that day.
Our day in and day out lesson planning. Focusing on themes of social justice. Inclusion. and Diverse cultures.
Our daily prayers, and reminders of the teachings of Jesus - to love thy neighbor as thyself.
Our commitment to empower our families - and enable them to have conversations with their children about what it is that they believe, and how they want their children to be in this world.
This day to day - this is our March for Life - where we uphold the dignity of each and every child and hope that one day... they will uphold the dignity of each and every person they encounter.

5th-8th - Choose 1 or 2 strong public readers to read a short statement about why they value Catholic Education - or a prayer they've written about Catholic education - or something that fits with the theme of Catholic Schools Week! Please make sure they practice! And we need some in English and some in Spanish!
Gracias!
