Leadership Corner

K-3 Campus

We are excited to begin CMAS testing at the K-3 Campus this week. 3rd-grade students have been working so hard to prepare and we are so excited for our amazing students to show what they know. I had the great opportunity to spend time in their classrooms today and talk to them. I am so proud of how the 3rd graders have stepped up as true leaders of our school, setting a positive example for our younger students. What an amazing group of students.

Kindergarten continues to work hard on reading. They are reading real books. Kindergartners are also learning about how to take care of Earth and how to reduce, reuse and recycle.

1st grade witnessed their caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies this week. What a treat to see their excitement in learning. They continue to study colonial America and the founding of our nation.

2nd grade is working hard on the Oregon trail and preparing for a long journey next week from Independence, Missouri to Oregon. They are bound to encounter mountains, storms, wild animals and some diseases. We wish them well on their journey on the Oregon Trail.

We are so excited to announce that we have a published writer on the K-3 campus. Mrs. Williamson, 1st Grade Teacher, has written a beautiful book titled the Mother of Montery County. You can learn more about this amazing book here. What an awesome way to put writing in action for our students. We are so proud of you Ms. Williamson!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. It is our honor to partner with you in their education.

4-8 Campus

We had a wonderful first week of testing with our 4th and 5th grade students! They did a great job on the CMAS assessment and have been celebrating their successes this week and will continue into next week with celebrations for their hard work! Next week we test our 7th and 8th grade students.

Middle school students have begun leaving their Chromebooks at school in our Chromecarts in preparation for our state assessments. This is so that we can ensure every student has a fully charged, functioning laptop for the state assessments. We understand this is not ideal and appreciate your cooperation in our efforts.

Parents, please encourage your student to do their best on their assessments. You can help your student succeed during their testing window by encouraging them to do their best and to take their time, ensure they get to bed early the week of their test, and to get them a good breakfast on the days they are testing.

COVID UPDATE

We have had two cohort closures this week. Parents, please make sure to keep your students home if they are not feeling well, this helps us to not have to close cohorts. We are also reviewing mask expectations at all levels with students. The more students who follow masking requirements with fedelity the less students we have out when we have a positive case in a cohort. Thank you for your continued support and vigilence!

Have a great weekend,

Marian Hejl

We Want Your Referral

New Vision Charter School is enrolling for the 2021-2022 school year and we want your referral! By simply telling your family and friends all the great things that are happening at New Vision and telling them to enroll you could get your 2021-2022 Student Fees waived. If they enroll and start New Vision in the fall, we will waive your student fees (not including athletic fees). It is a win-win.
