We are 'All-In' this Together at Mathews!

Thank you to our PTA for supporting our staff during this 12 Days of Joy before winter break with an amazing Italian luncheon!
Please be sure with cooler/colder weather ahead that you remind your darlings to check out our Lost and Found so they have their jackets to keep bundled up on chilly mornings both now and over winter break!

Flu Season
'All-In' to Stay Healthy!
Flu is a contagious illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs.
It can be mild to severe and usually comes on suddenly. Flu spreads mainly by tiny droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk.
Common symptoms are fever, cough, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue and sometimes diarrhea and vomiting.
How to stay healthy:
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when you cough or sneeze
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent germs entering your body
- Wash your hands OFTEN
- Get the flu vaccine
- Stay home when you are sick
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
When students are sick, please follow the Plano ISD guidelines:
Fever - A temperature of 100 or above is a fever. It usually a sign of illness or infection.
Students should stay home for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medication (Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, etc).
Vomiting and Diarrhea - Students should stay home until symptoms have resolved for 24 hours and he/she is able to eat.
When students come to school sick they could be contagious, therefore putting others at risk for illness.
