RICHLAND REFLECTIONS
Week of 6/8/20 Distance Learning at Richland Elementary
THURSDAY IS THE LAST STUDENT DAY!
Dear Richland Families,
It is hard to believe this is the last week of school! Though the last few months have not been what we planned, we hope that you and your children have some wonderful memories of engaging with staff during distance learning and from the first several several months of the school year. We thank you for your incredible partnership, and we know we will see you again! Please read this last edition of Richland Reflections for highlights from virtual field day and reading and math day.
Thursday is our last day of school and item pick up day at Richland. In this last weekly newsletter you will find detailed information to help you prepare. Don't miss lots more links and resources for your family too!
From all of the staff at Richland, we wish you a happy, safe, and healthy summer!

FIELD DAY HIGHLIGHTS!
The Department of Health has issued “essential worker” status to school employees for the purpose of returning students’ personal items, so we are now able to enter our schools. To ensure these items are returned to you in a safe and organized manner, teachers and staff will be packing students’ items (including their final report card) and families will come to the front of the school to collect them through a “contactless” pick up format on June 11. Please note, we will be adhering to all social distancing regulations. Student medications left in the health room will be added to the students’ packages by the school nurse.
Pick up times will be scheduled by grade level. Click here for schedule. For families with multiple students, please come during the time slot for your oldest child and all of your family’s bags will be together at that time.
All bags for that grade level will be organized alphabetically outside of the school. As part of this contactless pick up, you will exit your car, pick up your child’s bag, and return to your car.
We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly as possible to maintain an efficient process.

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. STAUFFER, OUR SCHOOL NURSE
HEALTHCARE REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOOL
Pennsylvania School Law sets requirements for students in schools. These requirements include physical examinations, dental examinations, and immunizations which must be done at specific times during a student’s school career.
Physical examinations are required for all students on original entry into school, whether it be kindergarten or 1st grade, and again as they enter 6th and 11th grade. If you have a child entering one of these grades, please schedule a physical exam with their primary healthcare provider. A physical exam form can be found here for you to take with you and be completed by the physician. The form can then be returned to school.
Dental examinations are also required on original entry into school, 3rd and 7th grade. If your child is entering one of these grades, the dental exam form can be found here. Please have the dentist fill out this form and then return it to school.
Immunization requirements are based on age and grade. Many immunizations are received prior to the start of kindergarten, with the exception of a few in middle school and high school. The requirements can be found here. Students must be up-to-date BEFORE the first day of school. Please don't delay your child's immunizations due to COVID-19. Physicians are continuing to give immunizations in their offices using proper safety measures.
If you are unsure of your child’s examination or immunization status, please reach out to your school nurse for an update. If your child is not up-to-date, keep an eye out for correspondence from the nurse about what is needed.
