Energy Use in P-20 Communities
Community E
Solar Panel Installations at South Middle, Elkhart Elementary, and Aurora Quest
Earth Day is Every Day at Aurora Public Schools!
In honor of Earth Day three APS schools each received a $20,000 solar panel installation for the school's participation in last year's Renew Our Schools Competition.
The Competition encouraged students to turn off lights and unplug electronics when not in use. Through these student-led efforts and assistance from outside professionals, these schools saw a huge reduction in energy use and cost savings for the whole district.
Congratulations, South Middle School, Elkhart Elementary, and Aurora Quest!

Students take a pledge to continue to support energy efficiency
Research shows that behavior change (turning lights off, etc.) can account for 15-20% energy cost savings.
If Community E reduces its energy use by 15%, they could collectively save the district more than $146,000!
