WHANAU MEETING - 14TH MARCH
SPORTS DESK
Rural Schools Swimming Sports
Next week on Friday 15th March children in years 4 - 8 will be attending the cluster swimming event at the Stratford Pools. We will be leaving school at approximately 9.30 with the event kicking off at 10am. The event will take most of the day and is expected to be completed by 1.30 in the afternoon. Students will need to be wearing their Toko school uniform as well as warm clothes to get changed into. They will also need to take water and their lunch to the event. Children will return back to school on buses afterwards. If you are picking your child up from the pools please let the school office know. We are looking forward to a great event.
School Tryathlon
Next Friday the 22nd of March we will be having our annual school tryathlon. Once again we will be utilising Wawiri Road for the cycle leg. The event will now be viewed, by parents, from the bank on the far end of the field parallel to Wawiri Road. The event starts at the Wawiri Road and finishes at the cricket pitch. All children will assemble on the bottom field. Please make sure that your bike or scooter is fully prepared for this event, checking that it is well serviced and that the brakes are in good working order. Bikes will need to be dropped at school on the bottom field, Ahuroa Road Entrance, on Friday morning. Gates will be open to assist you with this. All bikes need to be collected after school. If this is a problem please contact your child's classroom teacher. Children will need closed in shoes, a good working helmet and their swimming gear for this event.
For children new to our school we have a very small course set up for our 5 year olds. It’s all about having a go. They can bring a bike or a scooter. If you have any further questions please talk to Miss Mancer.
If you child does not have a bike to bring to school please contact your child's classroom teacher asap so we can make alternative arrangements.
The event order is as follows: Year 7 - 8, Year 5 - 6, Year 0 - 2, Year 3 - 4.
We run our event in the following order: Cycle, run, swim, run to the finish line.
The Tryathlon kicks off at 1.00pm sharp.
Turnbull Cup Results
We had a team of 14 swimmers compete in the annual Turnbull Cup swimming competition last night. Everyone represented Toko with pride and gave their absolute all, including some brave parents and Miss Jury who splashed around in the parents relay. Congratulations to our Toko A relay team (Sam H, Ephraim , Charlie W and Lexi) who won the Small Schools Relay. There were also some fantastic individual results with Sam W and William C winning their age groups and Jamie H and Lexi finishing third in their age groups. Well done on a fantastic effort everyone!
