High School Happenings (Nov/Dec 19)
Highlights from the past two months:
Starring Buffalo!
November 1st, fifty-eight of our vocal students rehearsed and performed with Broadway stars and local talent to present an amazing concert version of Little Show of Horrors. They sounded amazing!!!
Mr. Balcom's class made bat boxes in Tech Appreciation!
Donate Life Club toured the new ConnectLife headquarters on November 5th to learn about organ, tissue and blood donation!
Our graduates continue to make us proud!
2019 graduate Alyssa Zwelling just graduated from Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio Texas this week. She left yesterday to start tech school for Aerospace Medical Evacuation at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio as well. We're so proud of you, Alyssa!
Congratulations to Zachary Russell (‘15) who graduated from Technical School on November 5th. Zachary is a C-17 crew chief at Charleston AFB, SC. His brother, Caleb Russell (‘17) was able to attend the ceremony as a fellow Airman and proud brother. Caleb is a KC-10 Crew Chief at Travis AFB, CA.
Ryan Gmerek, '16, graduated with distinguished honors from SUNY ESF with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources Management and a minor in Water Resources. Ryan has secured a full time position for the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Buffalo.
Girls Cross Country wins the Section VI Class C Championship for the 4th year in a row!
Fall Fest Held November 15th
We are so proud of these amazing artists who put together a fabulous night of singing, acting, and dramatic reading. Congratulations to the Upper Classmen for taking home the big prize. Drama Club, you should all feel incredibly proud of yourselves!

On November 19th, this awesome group of student athletes took time out of their evening to present their respective seasons’ achievements to the Board of Education.
Nine students participated at the NYSSMA competition over the weekend of November 22nd.
Annual Red Cross blood drive held on November 20th!
Two students qualify for NYSSMA All-State!
On December 5th, David Schuler and Nathan Moran traveled to Rochester to perform at NYSSMA Conference All-State. Both David and Nathan auditioned last May, along with approximately 9,500 other high school students from across the state. NYSSMA then selects approximately the top 800 musicians to participate in the 8 All-State performing ensembles. David represented Newfane on the Tuba in the All-State Wind Ensemble, as one of the top 10 tuba players selected in the entire state. Nathan represented Newfane in the Jazz ensemble, a group made up of the top 18-20 jazz musicians in New York as the ONLY piano player selected in the entire state.
Both young men performed concerts in Rochester at the Eastman School of Music on Saturday, December 7th.
