EVENTS IN THE YEAR 1913

WHAT HAPPENED IN OUR COUNTRY DURING THE YEAR 1913

Worst Year Ever?

The 16th amendment in the Constitution was amended to allow for an income tax, opening our wallets to Congress. Government could then afford things they should never do. Good or bad? Big mistake!

New President

New president, change in government. Government is now Democratic by decisive majority. Now all of government is in the hands of Democrats because of the inauguration of the 28th president, Woodrow Wilson. For the better?

Fire of 1913-what happened?

The fire of Binghamton Clothing company in 1913 killed 33 women at the factory they were working in. More than 50 were injured. This is considered forgotten history that should always be remembered for those fire fighters who lost their lives saving women out of a factory left for ruins. The forgotten fire took place on Wall street in Binghamton. This past July was the 96th anniversary of the fire a monument was dedicated to them.
