Principal's Update

July 6-10, 2020

Dear Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you safe and well now more than ever!!! As principals, we have officially started the new school year and are busy planning our "RETURN TO LEARN". JISD school board met yesterday and approved recommendations for school options as well as technology initiatives. You should have received an email and or text message from our district leadership sharing the information that we currently have, and also links to a survey. I will break apart those details in the below sections of the newsletter so that you can review and make the best decision possible for your child and family. We ask for your patience as the Texas Education Agency makes recommendations and changes based on current health and safety; and we are working within those evolving guidelines. We know that you will have many, many questions, and some I can answer now and some we cannot; but we will keep you updated and informed. I am starting with this newsletter and then host a "town hall zoom meeting" to share additional information next week. Stay Safe and Healthy!

As we move through this new normal, we know there will be many questions. Following guidance from TEA, JISD composed a list of FAQ's grouped by topic. I hope this will help answer some of your questions.

JMS & JSTEM Virtual Town Hall Meeting

Tuesday, July 14th, 6-7pm

This is an online event.

In this virtual ZOOM meeting I will explain the 3 education options JISD has available for MS students as you plan how your child will return to school. I will answer as many questions as I can. Please use this link (Meeting ID: 860 181 8936) to access the meeting but know the participation limit is 300. You must download the zoom application either on your phone or computer. I will also record this meeting, and host additional virtual town halls as necessary.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Return to Learn - English

Plans are being made for EVERY child to have access to a laptop no matter what instructional option you choose.

Regardless of your instructional delivery option; please complete on-line registration for your child. This is a critical step in our process as we move forward into the new year.

2019 Yearbooks

If you were unable to pick up your yearbook, we will have those available at the front office when we return to school on August 18.
