Make a Difference Mondays! and National Block It Out Day. With social media, we can sometimes unconsciously get distracted by and caught up in general negativity. It can be easy to forget two things: 1) that every online interaction can shape our mindsets, attitudes, and perceptions, and 2) that we have the power to create our social media environment and choose what influences us. Each of us has the power to choose what we give our attention to online. We can all choose to block out online the hatred, trolls and bullying that makes up the culture of cyberbullying. When we come together in this way, we create a ripple effect that erases the spread of hate and cruelty on social media. On #BlockItOutDay, you block out more than your bully; you’re blocking out cyberbullying for all.
Take Care Tuesdays! To go along with National Block it Out Day, it is important to practice self care with social media. According to Mount Sinia Health Center one way to do this is to act when you see Cyberbullying. If someone is constantly posting hurtful comments on your or someone else’s posts, take action. Block the offender, report the abuse, and talk to someone you trust about it. Cyberbullying can sometimes be worse than “normal” bullying because it’s more difficult to get away from. Don’t read or engage with what bullies are posting, if you can—no one needs to read that trash, and you need to look after yourself. Get off social media until you feel safe going back. If you’re being cyberbullied, you may feel angry, lonely or depressed. Remember: you are not alone. Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling.
Way to Go Wednesdays! Dr. Judd wants to give a huge thank you to the Clark students who stepped up to volunteer for her at the Air Show this weekend. These students are: Elizabeth Oseni, Eddie Milner, Bella Gonzalez, Skylar Crumpler, Kylie Crumpler, Dakota Beurrier, Sienna Perez, Delaney Dyer, and Isabelle Buchanan. Extra special thanks to Isabelle for working all three days!
Thankful Thursdays! Show gratitude; be a light. Amy Collette wrote, “Gratitude is a power catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy...”
Next week is Thanksgiving. At this time of the year we are reminded to say what we feel throughout the year. That is, we are so thankful you are all part of the Clark family and wish everyone a restful & joyful holiday.
Also, we are thankful that the tape dispenser and scissors were found, so Ms. Rose will bring candy canes.
Fun Fact Fridays! Female turkeys don't gobble. You probably relate turkeys with a "gobble" sound, but only male turkeys actually emit that call—which is why they're known as gobblers. Females and males cackle, purr, and yelp, depending on the situation.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday!
