Customize the Destiny Discover Homepage with Text and Links

The Destiny Discover homepage can now be customized by adding text and/or Learning Links columns to the top of your Destiny Discover homepage. Customize the homepage with library news, announcements, custom links and more! The Learning Links section replaces the previous Links ribbon and makes your custom links and One Search databases more visible to students.

Note: Any links you had set up in the previous Links ribbon will appear by default.

For more information see Set Up the Homepage in Destiny Discover. If you use the Simplified version, two more options are available- Space & Technology.

New BookLynx eBooks and Audio Books Available; More details coming on the RILINK list!

RILINK has added 167 eBooks and 38 digital audio books to our shared BookLynx collection. Find directions for adding these to your own collection on our web site at on the [Add/Delete Titles?] tab.

RILINK will be placing a barcode order with our vendor on Monday, October 21. Orders will need to be submitted by 4:00 pm on Friday, October 18th, by completing the online order form at

ILL Tips of the Month

If you see a Report in your Back Office called Daily Holds Processor, open it. You will see a list of any books that are on your Hold Shelf where the hold has expired and the item should be returned to your shelf or to the library that sent it to a student or teacher at your school.

Is Your District Getting Daily Student Record Updates?

South Kingstown just joined the list of 23 other districts getting daily student record updates, which is very helpful at the chaotic beginning of the school year as well as handling changes to student data during the school year.

Our thanks to all of the district technology folks who have helped get this process going for their district, whether they are using Skyward or Aspen as their student information management system.

Free PBS Education Resources & Professional Development

Our core resource is PBS LearningMedia, a free instructional media content library featuring thousands of video and support resources across all K-12 subject areas and grade levels, drawn from PBS programming. We also provide professional development services around media & technology integration (recently approved by RIDE as part of the new Educator Course Network).

Special Pricing for Infobase Databases Still Available

Even though the RILINK Infobase trial ended last spring, you can still set up Free Trials of any of Infobase's Streaming Video or Reference Database products this fall. A Digital Learning Commons Guide

With some districts moving to or toward a learning commons model, these sites may offer some talking points. The first link takes you to the South Portland School Department website section on Info Tech- Libraries and and Technology. The second link is to the SPSD Digital Learning Commons site, which uses LibGuides CMS. This site also has links to the library sites for each school in the district.
