GHS Update

Moving forward...
Safety and continued instruction are our goals as we continue to serve our community. With that in mind, GISD will use Google Classroom as the platform to deliver instruction. For those without WiFi or computer access, the same assignments will be available for pick up at the front of the school. Teachers will be on campus, in their classrooms and far from each other, working on setting up their individual lessons. If there are questions, please call (940) 665-5528.
Google Classroom
- Go to classroom.google.com Please keep in mind that some teachers will still be setting up their accounts.
- Access using your school email account. “What’s my school email” is ALWAYS a question. First initial last name . Grad year @gainesvilleisd.com example: dglancy.1983@gainesvilleisd.com Password is either Gisd _ _ _ _ or GoRed _ _ _ _ based on the grade. (_ _ _ _ is last 4 of student ID)
- Click the plus "+" sign in the top right hand corner
- Add the codes of your teachers.
Parents who would like may be added to the classroom via an email address. They can send the teachers their address and, then, the teachers will send an invite. They can monitor everything at that point. We will have our experts here on campus Monday and, at times, throughout the week to answer questions (940) 665-5528.

Cell Phones
We appreciate your support as students get accustomed to the new cell phone policy. It takes an adjustment period but we will continue to keep the instructional focus in our classrooms and hallways.
Just as a reminder:
Cell phone use is prohibited in classrooms, hallways and restrooms. They must be stored or put away during the instructional day.
Cell phones are allowed to be used before 8:15 in the cafeteria AND during a student's assigned lunch period in the cafeteria.
● On the first offense and second offense, the telecommunications device shall be confiscated and then returned to the parent with a warning for the student/parent. The parent and student will sign the written warning.
● On the third offense (and incremental offenses thereafter), a $15 fine shall be required before the telecommunications device is returned. ○ A parent may elect to forgo the fine in place of an alternative deterrent.
■ If the fine is not paid, the student will be required to report to the front office to turn in their electronic device(s) each day for a period of five consecutive school days. The device(s) will be available for student retrieval at the conclusion of each school day for this situation only. All other confiscations must be retrieved by a parent and/or guardian.
