You Are Invited to Attend!
The purpose of this meeting is to engage parents in conversation to gain multiple perspectives on the impact our school practices have on our children of color.
Subs, Pizza and Childcare will be provided.
The agenda will include:
- Review "Speak Up", a resource for teaching and addressing microaggressions in the classroom (see PDF below)
- Review Climate Survey
- Beg of Year Survey for teachers - How to best engage your child?
- Open Conversation

My child is of color, but I am not. Can I still come to the meeting? Yes, this meeting is to gain the perspective of all parents who have children of color. We realize that within this group of parents there will be different races with unique experiences and perspectives. Our hope is to gain that perspective through small group work during our meetings.
Who will I see at this meeting? You will see other parents/caregivers of our students of color. You will also see staff interested in hearing your perspective to improve their classroom practices.
What is the goal of having this kind of meeting? The goal is to:
**provide a place for parents to discuss the distinct issues, needs and experiences of
students of color
**gather input that can inform our school practices, expectations and instruction
**build a greater sense of community and support for our families and students of color
