Freshman Orientation

Welcome New Seahawks!

Freshman Orientation July 29th, 2021 from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

The purpose of Freshman Orientation is to help acclimate our new students to Sunlake High School. New students will learn about our school as well as keys to success. Freshman Orientation is an important part of every student's transition into high school and we hope to see you there!

Students should be dropped off between 7:45 and 8:15 am in the student parking lot and should check-in at the gym. Parents are welcome to return at 10:30 am for an optional meeting in the gymnasium. Pick-up will begin at 11 am; students are able to leave once they have received their schedule.

Student Schedule of Events

7:45 - 8:15 am Student drop-off and check-in (Location: Gym)

Students will receive their group number, class t-shirt, and a welcome bag!

8:30 - 9:00 am Welcome to SLHS!

Meet your school principal, your class assistant principal, and your class counselor. Students will learn about school traditions and expectations as well as an overview of the day.

9:00 - 10:30 am SOAR Break-Out Sessions

Students will be guided by their group leader to each break-out session.

  • S - Spirited: "Things I Wish I Knew as a Freshman" as presented by student council
  • O - On-Track: Meet with your school guidance counselor to learn about your graduation requirements; understand how to be academically successful, and the power of a 0
  • A - Attentive: Students will receive an overview of myStudent, myLearning, and other online resources at SLHS
  • R - Respectful: Listen to a welcome message from our very own Corporal Phillips; review district policies on disciplinary measures

10:30 - 11:30 am Campus Tours and Class Sponsor Meet and Greet

11:00 - 12:00 pm Schedule Pick-Up & Virtual Expo Hall

You made it! As students complete orientation, they will be able to pick-up their course schedules and visit our virtual expo hall to get more information on extracurriculars!

Optional Parent Meeting 10:30 am; Gym

Parents will have the opportunity to meet with Ms. Merlin and Ms. Baer to review some helpful tips to support their students in transitioning from middle school to high school.
