Last Day of School

What's happening in Math

We wrapping up one of our longest units on percents, decimals, and fractions. The last two days have been practice days with test questions and optional level four types of practice. We will be moving on to working with mean, median, and mode next week when we are done MAP Testing.

What's happening in Language Arts

Students are working on creating presentations based on their informational text topics. They created electronic presentations, along with a basic script, which they will present to the class next week. Students are also busy creating "how to" videos to use with future peer writing conferences. They are using Khan Academy as their inspiration.

Please have your child read at least 20 minutes each day. We rarely have language arts homework other than reading each night.

What's happening in Social Studies

Students worked on a project where they matched photos, dates, and captions from World War II into a booklet that they made. High school students also came down and presented Ibooks that they made based on World War II. We are now finishing the unit on the Holocaust.

Living Legends Project - Students will be working these next two weeks completing their projects, interviews, and posters. Some students have already begun posters and interviews.

What's happening in Science

In science, our class spent most of our time creating projects to demonstrate our knowledge of the relationship between the moon, the Earth, and the sun. Student projects included: Kahoot! games, raps, dances, poems, and poster projects. Next week, we will finally begin our unit on the classification of living things.

Our science textbook this year is on-line through Think Central, so you will not see a book come home. The login will be their district login and Password: L!n5v!lle.

Helpful Site for Math

One of the apps that students have and an excellent tutorial for math is Khan academy.

The link is as follows: https://www.khanacademy.org/

Students can simply type in their search question or content area they are looking for and it will have a smartboard lesson with audio explain and showing how to work through whatever problems they are looking up. Great site!
