Dear Families:
This week we kicked off Read Across America with guest readers and a special visit from SRO Ryan Hamacher and his service dog Charlie. Charlie is our district companion dog. Charlie is trained to help individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Students who have read the most books will be awarded with another visit from Both Charlie and Officer Hamacher. They will have the opportunity to read their favorite story to Charlie.
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available by clicking this linkhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1UVkpupB-05za4ak4ce01fB-Mku275AWS1wSGM4qPEvU/edit
Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school.
You will notice on our report card that we are performing well in English Language Arts, 83% of our students are meeting and partially meeting expectations. This is an improvement from 2021 we had 81% meeting or partially meeting expectations. In the area of mathematics 83% of our students are meeting or partially meeting expectations this is a significant increase from 2021 where 74% of our students were meeting or partially meeting expectations. To improve student performance in our school, we have started a new ELA curriculum that is designed to strengthen our foundational skills. This will support all of our learners with a stronger foundation in phonics instruction as well as reading and writing. We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.
Playground update: Thank you to all of our donors we have raised $16,680.00 Please see our Playground Campaign using this Link:
Parent announcements: No Parent council meeting this month
Please dress the children warmly. The weather has finally become colder. We use a weather chart to direct how long the kids should stay outside for recess. Studies show that children need frequent breaks, fresh air and movement for their physical and mental wellness. We strive to have them go outside as much as possible (weather-dependant). Parent Education and Social-Emotional Resources:
Please visit this site for helpful tips and resources to support the whole family:
Ways to support math at home:
Student attendance is essential for academic growth and social-emotional development. We value the time spent with family, however, we urge you to take vacations when school is not in session. If you are having difficulty getting your student to school, please reach out to me, the classroom teacher, or our school nurse. We are all here to support you and our students.
