Counseling Corner
Last month, Northview students learned about the character trait of Friendship and celebrated by having a Grade Level Color Day! Friendship is a monumental part of child development, and just like reading and math, our children need to be taught the social skills necessary to form healthy relationships with their peers. We talked a lot about conflict resolution and problem-solving in respectful, responsible, and safe ways. We used the mantra “I am friendly. I am considerate.” to help remind us to be a kind friend each day!
This month (March), we will be learning about the character trait of Integrity. We will be teaching students that integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. Our mantra for the month is "I am honest. I am fair." To celebrate this monthly character trait, we will have a Tie-Dye Day on Friday, March 24!

2nd Grade
In reading, the 2nd grade students have been practicing reading fluently, recognizing literary language, and keeping track of longer books. They celebrated their knowledge by sharing “Breaking News” broadcasts with their classmates. In writing, they completed publishing their very own poem. Their poems will be compiled into a professionally published book! Finally, in math, students recently began studying time, picture graphs, and bar graphs.
3rd Grade
Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Sprenger’s third grade class wrote a persuasive paper during a past writing unit. They wrote a speech for Mrs. Ellinger and convinced her to let the 3rd grade use the school sleds at afternoon recess time. The students had to create special agreements to help everyone keep our privilege. Each class has been able to enjoy sledding on the mini hill and haven’t minded at all the extra snow we have been getting!
