- Gina Gnoffo attended the Construct 3D conference in Atlanta this weekend. Construct 3D is all about incorporating 3D printing into education. A friend from Brearley School also attended and has shared out resources via Twitter. Follow Karen here: https://twitter.com/KarenBlumberg and the hashtag #construct3d2018 to glean a plethora of great resources. If you want to attend this conference next year, let me know.
- From 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm on every Monday in October, I'll be in US 024 for tech drop in sessions! On Monday, October 9, our topic will be Google Calendar. Bring your laptop or iPad and any questions. All are welcome!
- NSCDS faculty should email me (Lucy) with requests for apps to be installed on their school or student iPads. I will then approve the request or ask for more information and the IT department will install.
- For subscription services, generally speaking, you should go through your department for these purchases. For example, if you need (and will use) a particular subscription-based tool or app such as Quizlet, purchase it and seek reimbursement from your department. Over the course of this year, I am planning on developing a process for requesting subscriptions prior to the next school year so that we can obtain bulk pricing or negotiate pricing based on users with specific companies.
- I'm available to meet with you, your grade level and/or department to explore how to integrate technology into classroom instruction. Book an appointment on my calendar here or send me an email!
- If you are teaching in the middle and upper schools, please make sure you are reinforcing NSCDS iPad policies and requiring students to bring their charged iPads to school every day.

Evernote
- Type notes, add attachments, clip web pages, or record memos.
- Use notebooks, tags, or our powerful search to find everything you need quickly.
- Manage projects, take meeting notes, set reminders, and edit documents.
Evernote is available an app for your phone, on the web, and via a Mac OS app. Each platform has some *slightly* different features, but generally, I use the Evernote app on my Mac for notetaking, to clip websites for future use, save news articles without ads, and to take screenshots and annotate them. Content curated in Evernote syncs quickly between devices and everything is searchable including newspaper articles that I've clipped. I also recommend using the companion app called Scannable which allows one to add scans directly to Evernote and the Evernote Chrome extension.
Here are some of my shared notebooks in case you want to see what Evernote looks like in action. The subject-area notebooks listed below were started when I worked with an IB school in NYC a few years ago; I've also included my personal recipes collection and ongoing collection of global education resources.

Instagram TV for Teachers: A New Medium for PD and Inspiration | EdSurge
Who knew? Instagram has a new platform that supports longer formatted videos. "IGTV is a new platform from the folks at Instagram. Instead of individual posts or Instagram Stories, which combine still images and very short video clips, IGTV hosts longer videos, usually centered around one clear topic. They feel more like episodes that aren’t necessarily specific to something that happened just in one small moment in the way Stories are. Users can access IGTV channels created by the accounts they follow right from Instagram. Alternatively, you can download a separate IGTV app where you can access all of the videos from people you follow.
