Proctor Staff
Week at a Glance, and Beyond! 1/22 - 1/25
Why do 4 day weeks feel so long?
Monday: 1/22
Lori Ozcus will be with us ALL day! Based on grade level feedback, I created an observation schedule for grade level teams to observe Lori in action. I was able to do some begging for the district to give us 3 roving subs to release teachers. Though I still have to pay out of my own budget, it will be worth the professional development.
Here is a link to the schedule: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vP_m44-Q49vLlusdW1IYYNzlNEJC8dPxv-8OAinn_F0/edit
Thank you to those who sent me back the survey Lori gave us. If you have not yet, please still do as she wants feedback to make our day the most meaningful for you. Feel free to email me over the weekend, and I will send her whatever feedback you give me. Thanks!
2:50 - 4:20 - Staff Development w/ Lori Ozcus - please be prompt, and bring your technology fully charged.
Wednesday: 1/23
8:30 - 9:30 District walkthroughs with Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Jason Reiman
Thursday: 1/24
One day closer to Friday!
Friday: 1/25
Progress Reports Due ! Please send home a Progress Report for poor behavior, or for any student who is receiving a 1 in any of the core subjects. An ILP should also be created.
I may be off site to visit another AVID district in Napa. Please refer any major issues to Alison or Christina, and text so that I can follow up, 510-828-7053.
Safety Updates and New Procedures!
With that being said, here are some of the procedures we will follow to utilize the use of these walkes to improve our overall school site safety.
- Turn them on and take them with you during your assigned yard duty/parking lot duty times. These walkies only have 2 channels; District emergency channel, and Local 1. We will use the Local 1 channel for our school site.
* This is a new habit you will need to develop. To help with this, assign a student a "walkie talkie" job to help you remember to bring it out with you if needed.
- Feel free to do a "radio check" when you arrive to your yard duty time and location to ensure you are on the correct channel. The office and myself always will have a walkie on to respond.
- You do not need to keep the Walkies on in your classroom, otherwise you will hear the chatter of the office and and the noon duty supervisors.
- Take them with with during drills and school evacuations.
- Practice using them so that you feel comfortable and confident using them when there is a true need. Hold down the side button on the left of the walkie with your thumb while speaking, release the button to hear a reply.
We can discuss more about the use of the walkies during our next staff meeting as questions or concerns arise. In the meantime, feel free to send me questions, or ask for clarifications as needed!
PBIS Reminders!
Before the break, the PBIS committee presented the new behavior matrix and handbook they've been working on. We all agreed that we would begin implementing after the new year.

As a reminder, we need to be consistent in our practices, and to remember to really give out those Proctor Pride points K-5! Many of the upper grade students tend to not receive as much as the lower grade students. I feel this is reflective in the behaviors I've been seeing in these past few weeks. Let's commit to really acknowledge the positive behaviors we observe, to push our students to make better choices. Have these conversations in class, and remind them of the behavior expectations.
This month's character trait is Be Positive!
Focusing on our Identified Sub-Group
During grade level meetings focus on this data, and discuss what strategies as grade level you can implement to target and support these students to be more successful. Create SMART goals for these students, and progress monitor them throughout the Trimester. We will discuss this process in more details in our February staff meetings.
Imagine Learning Curriculum for EL Students
Those who have EL students are mandated to provide 30 minutes of designated ELD. Imagine Learning is a program adopted by the District that supports this designated ELD instruction in your classroom. This curriculum, if used consistently will have great results for our students. See below to get your students logged on. We will have a short PD on February 4th by an Imagine Learning rep.
