2020 CHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian Revealed
VALEDICTORIAN: Shawn McDougal
SALUTATORIAN: Caroline Wu
CTE MONTH
February is CTE Month and Dr. Greg Wyman, Superintendent, invited Ms. Belshe, and the Medical Professions students to present information related to our Nursing Assistant Program at the Senate Education Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. This was such an honor for us to be invited and recognized for our Nursing Assistant Program and our wonderful students. Our Medical Professions students gave a remarkable, professional presentation to the Senate Education Committee. The HOSA (Future Health Professionals) Officers each presented one aspect of the Nursing Assistant Program, and concluded each presentation with their future goals. The following students presented: Brianne Harris, President; Vicente Leyvas, Vice-President, Emery Udall, Secretary; Taylor Hahn, Treasurer; Jaden Bernhardt, Reporter; Isaiah Amador, Parliamentarian; Hunter Boling, Sergeant of Arms and a 2019 graduate, Miranda Garcia. These young professionals represented Combs High School, our school district and all CTE Programs. In addition to the student presentations, Misty Richards, Senior Manager from Banner Ironwood Medical Center and Marni Rawiszer, the Program Manager from Central Area Health Education Center presented information on our community partnerships and Mr. John Scrogham, CTE Coordinator also presented. At the conclusion of this sensational presentation, the senators applauded our students and Senator Sylvia Allen said “This is the best presentation and example of what CTE programs are supposed to do.” We have incredible students at CHS and we are proud to be a part of this amazing school district.

Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, AP Psychology, JROTC, Student Council, Peer Facilitator, and Work-Study (for seniors) are all great options for elective credit. Through these classes students can gain insight into the human mind and behaviors, social interactions, have the opportunity to participate in military classes and drills, help one of our Special Education students on campus, take on leadership roles, and get credit for working outside of school. Want more information on one of these classes? Make an appointment and talk to your counselor!
