MOMENTUM
what is it??????
- the product of an object's mass and velocity
- an object that is not moving has a momentum of 0
- to calculate momentum: mass times velocity
- momentum is measured in kg m/s
- the total momentum before an event is equal to the total momentum after an event
momentum (kg m/s) = mass (kg) x velocity (m/s)
question: if an object has a mass of 2000 kg, what is its momentum?
Trick question! The momentum is 0 because the object is not moving
200 x 0 = 0 kg m/s
now you know all you need to know about momentum...
