News To Know

Student Forgot Device?

Occasionally, a student may forget his/her device at home. Please avoid delivering the device to campus. Our teachers are prepared to offer an alternative assignment, if needed, for the day the device is forgotten at home.

Device Update

Your child should charge his/her device every night.

Device fees are due! If you have not yet paid your child's $25 device fee, please do so! You may send cash or check (made out to MISD) to the school, or you may pay online at MySchoolBucks! I would LOVE to the be the first school at 100% paid and appreciate your help in making that happen!

Can we get to 80% by the end of the week?

Tardies and Safety

Our car line is amazing! The line is clear most days at 7:43 which allows learners plenty of time to get to their classrooms by time the tardy bell rings at 7:45.

If your child are late, please park and walk him/her into the front office. Please do not send a late child to the front door without adult supervision!

The front doors automatically lock at 7:45 am. The front office will have to buzz you in.

Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol is officially starting on Monday, Sept. 24th! 4th and 5th Grade volunteers who are interested in assisting staff with morning duty can sign up here! A variety of jobs are available ranging from helping students out of their cars, holding the school doors, and monitoring the hallways. All students who sign up will have an opportunity to assist at each position at some point throughout the year.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Safety Patrol volunteers will need to be dropped off at 7:15 (cafeteria side) or ride the bus to get ready for student arrival each morning.

  • Students need to exhibit exemplary behavior in their classroom as well as any time they are assisting teachers during morning arrival.

  • Students will need to be dressed in appropriate clothing for weather conditions.

Sign up for safety patrol here (case sensitive):

Sign ups for the second semester will go out before Christmas. We are excited for students to display their leadership skills in Safety Patrol!

Parent University

MISD is hosting the first Parent University of the school year on Tuesday, September 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the MISD boardroom. The Princeton Review will be speaking all about college financial planning using FAFSA. This is a great session to attend for all MISD parents.

While this parent training may be a little early for us at elementary school, I know there are many of you with high school students!

Math Pentathlon Parent Night

Thursday, September 27 at 6:00 pm at the MISD Admin Building

If you are interested in learning about Math Pentathlon, please join us this evening for an introduction to the program. Math Pentathlon is a research-based activity in which students learn math while playing games. During the information night meeting, participants will be given an overview of the program, related activities and student expectations. The games will be available for viewing and exploration.

Students generally meet once a week for an hour after school to get instructions about each game and the math connections, and practice what they are learning. In the Spring, tournaments are held in which students from all over the state play the games in competition. There are four divisions: Kinder & First, Second & Third, Fourth & Fifth, Sixth & Seventh grades. While the costs are kept to a minimum at the campus level, each participant is expected to attend the division level tournament, for which there is a registration fee. Visit for more details.

Sock Hop!

Students (and teachers) are encouraged to wear their favorite 50s attire on Friday and then join us for our Annual Sock Hop!
