Celebrations
Just like that, week #8 of the 2020-21 school year is in the rearview mirror! This week our Northside students celebrated Unity Day -- a district-wide spirit day aimed at promoting inclusion, kindness, as well as upstander behavior as part of our collective effort to ensure that ALL students feel included in our schools.
Students learned about and created specific compliments for peers and staff members on Monday during their Hawk Time lesson and capped off the event by posting them in our Gratis-Social station in Schoology on Wednesday. It was heartwarming to see all of the genuine compliments and positivity in our school as well as the school spirit with students wearing orange as a symbol of our commitment to being an upstander.
We also wanted to spotlight our 'essentials staff' who have been working hard to create engaging art, music, and physical activities for our students both virtually and in our cohort groups. Students have been learning about rhythm/beat in music class, cool/warm colors in art, and different ways to stay physically active during physical education classes. With the change in seasons, it is a good time to remind your child to wear appropriate attire for outdoor gym class -- as we plan to be outside daily weather permitting.
Lastly, we would like to welcome aboard a new team member to our front office team in Mrs. Carly Wawroski. Carly has served in multiple other roles in our school prior to landing an administrative assistant position and we are super excited to have her as a helper in our front office.

Interested in becoming a guest teacher or support staff member?
One of the challenges many local schools are facing is a shortage of substitute teachers and support staff positions. Our partners at Teachers on Call are looking for high-quality individuals for both teachers and support staff positions in our schools and other districts in the area.
If you are looking for flexible and rewarding part-time employment this could be a great option for you to consider. If interested please apply through our partner at Teacher's on Call and you are welcome to reach out to the Northside front office with any questions.
