Good Afternoon Monroe Families!
This week at Monroe Elementary, our kindergarten students have been putting sounds together to make words using the reading program we are piloting called, Amplify. For this activity, students get a letter card. The teacher says a word and if they have a letter card that is needed for that word, they go to the front of the room to help create the correct spelling of that word. The first picture shows the word "shin." Then the teacher said, “change shin to chin.” A student with the “sh” card sat down and a student with the ”ch” card helped build the new word.
Waffles, our school therapy dog had a great visit this week. He listened to our students read and of course got a lot of petting from our students.
For parents that drop off their students in the morning: please have students get out of the car on the curb side. This is to make sure our students are safe with all of the moving cars.
Just a reminder that there is no school on Monday due to President's Day. Have a great long weekend!
