Nicaragua 2016
Thank you so much for your contribution to my trip!
The Trip of a Lifetime
This trip was honestly the best experience I've ever had in my life. I feel so incredibly blessed by you for donating to my trip, so that I was able to go to Nicaragua. I saw so many incredible things happen- people being healed before my very eyes, lasting friendships formed despite an enormous language barrier, and hope given to those that had none.
Nightly Debriefs
We spent the end of every night debriefing about everything that happened to everyone during the day, and praying for everything that was happening and was to come. This was a special time because not everyone was in the same place, doing the same thing every day, so we were able to hear about awesome things people were doing that we didn't get to experience first hand!
Pato Pato Ganso
We taught the kids how to play duck duck goose and they LOVED it! They absolutely tired us out and while we were catching our breath and grabbing a drink of water, they all came over and were chanting "pato!!" They couldn't get enough!
The Medical Clinic
Most of the residents have never seen a doctor in their entire lives, luckily a medical team from the US put on a free clinic and they saw many patients every day. Most people have kids, so we provided many activities to keep them busy and out of their parent's hair as they got the medical treatment they so desperately needed.
Not the End
I met so many people on this trip that had such an impact on me. Almost everyone I came into contact with had almost nothing, and yet they were some of the most inviting, and welcoming people I've ever met. We heard a few stories about some of the kids that came to the events we put on, stories of abuse, hunger, and depression. Many we came into contact with told us stories of how they try to take their lives every day. Others would actually eat things they found off of the ground, because they were so hungry that they felt they had no other choice. I am so blessed to have been a part of a team that was able to bring the hope of Jesus to people who felt they had no hope left at all. I hope one day soon I am able to return to Nicaragua, and keep on doing the Lord's work!
