From the Principal
Dear Copeland families,
Thank you to all who came out for Dance Across Texas. Our kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students were boot scooting cuties! They did an amazing job! Thank you to Coach Linhart, Coach Tucker and the PEAM team for making this a successful event. I love this Copeland tradition!
As you know, PTO just wrapped up their spring fundraiser. We are pleased to announce that our students EXCEEDED our goal! I am looking forward to celebrating with our students at the Day of Awesomeness on March 9th. Please be sure to send your child with an extra pair of socks for the inflatables. As a result of meeting our goal, I know the students will be excited to slime me on March 31st. Both of these will be fun days! I am also so grateful for the support of our local MUD Districts. So far MUD Districts 264, 156 and 173 have generously donated or promised to donate to help us purchase new playground equipment. Our community, near and far, have helped us towards our new equipment. We are very hopeful we will be able to order it by the end of the school year! Words will never be able to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped this dream come to fruition! THANK YOU!
At Copeland, we celebrate our staff the week of March 6th-10th. National Teacher Appreciation week is May 8th-12th, but our staff likes to celebrate in March before Spring Break. Please help me show the staff how much we love and appreciate them. They are truly the best staff in CFISD!
We are looking forward to our 3rd grade Multicultural Day on March 10th. This is such a fun day for our students where they get to explore different countries and cultures. We appreciate the support from PTO and our families. We couldn't have this amazing experience without your help.
Registration for the 10th Annual Superintendent's Fun Run is now open. Copeland will have a team of staff, students and families participating. We hope to see you there! Please click here for more information.
Please be mindful as the weather warms up to adhere to the school dress code. As a reminder, Spring Break is the week of March 13th-17th. I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, safe week full of family time.
As always, thank you for your support of our school, community and staff. We appreciate your partnership!

PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions & Support
Copeland PBIS has an end of the year beach bash that will take place on May 22, 2023. Each student has an opportunity to attend if they choose to purchase it for 100 CARE cash. Please have a conversation with your student about budgeting their CARE cash throughout the rest of the year if they would like to attend our beach bash. Thank you.
This month we are focusing on PATIENCE by being ACCOUNTABLE for our actions. Our students are learning that being patient means being able to wait calmly and respectfully without becoming annoyed or upset. You can get someone’s attention quicker by showing patience. Please have conversations with your child about ways they can demonstrate patience with others at Copeland, at home, and in the community. We are so proud of our Colts for showing they CARE by:
Being Consistent
Being Accountable
Being Respectful
Being Engaged
We appreciate your support in our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports in our school.

Kaylee McArthur & Amy Roberson Counselors
Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor.
Clinic - Nurse Kane
Please do not send any medication, including cough drops, to school with your child. Per our district policy, all medication must be unopened, unexpired and brought by a parent to the clinic and signed in.
For Pre-K, Kinder & 1st grade students, please send a dry set of clothes daily in your child's backpack. The clinic needs donations of gently used pants in all sizes for girls/ boys and new, unopened underwear in all sizes.
