VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED AT SCHOOL ~ NEW PROTOCOLS

School volunteers are an important part of our educational team and can make a significant difference in the lives of students. The Davis School District volunteer program includes specific guidance to community members who assist District faculty and staff. In addition to the Volunteer Agreement used in the past (click link below to view the agreement form) we are also now requiring school volunteers to do the following before entering our classrooms to help teachers and students.
  • Volunteers will agree to a temperature check in the office.
  • Volunteers will submit a questionnaire verifying they do not have symptoms of COVID-19, including: shortness of breath, sore throat, persistent cough, congestion or a runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, or the loss of taste and/or smell.
  • Volunteers will adhere to physical distancing recommendations.
  • Volunteers will sanitize or wash their hands frequently.

We are also asking that volunteers with preschool students find ways to help teachers from home. School workroom equipment such as copy machines, paper cutters and die-cut machines should be used by employees. Formal volunteer background checks are encouraged but not required at this time.

Important Device Updates for Parents/Guardians

Our current inventory should allow every Reading Wrangler to check out a device and charger from school for Remote Learning days. We will distribute an iPad to each Kindergarten and First Grade student, while all others will have a Cloudbook (a small laptop). Teachers will be communicating with parents their plans for checking out devices. Unlike the soft closure in March when parents had to request devices, we are now defaulting to the assumption parents will want one at home. Cloudbooks and iPads will be configured in a way that makes logging into school programs like Canvas, Teams and Clever much quicker and easier than before. IF YOUR STUDENT DOES NOT NEED A DEVICE AT HOME, PLEASE E-MAIL THE CLASSROOM TEACHER! Finally, before students can bring devices home, a parent will need to sign the electronic documents in myDSD.
