Welcome Back
Kia ora whānau, family, parents and caregivers,
We were delighted to welcome our tamariki and staff back to our kura this week. One of my favourite parts of a new term is reconnecting with our team and greeting our children as they arrive at school in the morning.
This term we especially welcome our 10 new students, eight of whom are new entrants joining our Rimu team (photo and names below) along with Radhira Chand joining Totara and Izzy Mcmahon joining Kowhai.
This brings our roll to 405!
A special welcome back too, to Whaea Anna, Whaea Judie and Mrs Minnell - beautiful kaiako who have a love of Puketapu School, build great connections with our tamariki and make learning fun.
Our newest ākonga in Rimu 4:
Azalea Parkinson, Atlas Marshall, Rowan Evans, Ryan Chand, Hadley Smith, Mila Hyland,
Keri-Lee Edwards & Lily Ponting
WHĀNAU & FAMILY
Research shows (and our whānau, parents and caregivers know this already) that "Spending time just talking" was the parent-child activity most strongly associated with life satisfaction ratings - but in the day to day busyness of family life it can be difficult to find time for more in depth, meaningful discussions with our kids - especially one on one.
Here are some handy resources to help get kids talking. Great for family mealtimes, road tripping or for use in the classroom, the list includes conversation cards, a printable game and more. Click on each of the links below to find out more;

At Puketapu School we support and encourage the wearing of masks for year 4 students and above.
We continue to promote good hygiene habits and well ventilated spaces.

Living our Values
Our Rimu tamariki have been showing our school values and after a discussion, created this Treaty with Miss Sowman for when they play soccer. They have all signed it and agreed to their new Soccer rules.
Great Kia Manawanui Rimu!
so a BIG WELL DONE to Charlotte Mangin!

Our tamariki are loving board games at the moment, if you have any board games that you no longer use or are unwanted please drop them into the office for our friendship space.
Here's what some of our tamariki have to say about 'Friendship Space'

year 5 & 6 interschool
Whaea Kim (Miss Sowman) and Whaea Hayley (Hayley Adams) did not know which school to cheer for now that they both teach at Waitara East too.
Waitara East showed some outstanding sporting skills and gave Puketapu a great challenge. The weather was not on our side but the tamariki all had fun and showed our school values.
We hope to have some more exchanges between Waitara East & Puketapu in the future.
