From the Principal:
Our NEW patio has begun construction off our biker-walker patio with our personalized Pavers for Playgrounds already installed. The area will be blocked off for the next week or so as they complete the project. We thank you for your patience as we work with the district to finish the installation. We are VERY excited to have a new walk-way soon!
As we grieve the loss of Cameron, we want to respect all families decisions to talk to their own children about Cameron's passing. We handle each and every child differently based on their needs as they come to school. As a campus, we are here to support your student's needs and are here for them should they need anything. As Cameron's celebration of life and service is scheduled for tomorrow, we are prepared for your families decision to take your child to the service or prepared to have our regular routines here on campus. Please feel free to reach out if your child needs further support from our campus. See below in the Buzz for more information.
This Friday we have ORBIT from the Houston ASTROS in a pep-assembly here to Emphasize a Bully-Free environment in and out of school, as part of our Generation Texas Week. Orbit will be teaching students about the different types of bullying and will encourage students to take a pledge to make bullying STOP by:
- Standing up for one another,
- Telling an adult,
- Offering friendship, and
- Practicing respect.
With much gratitude to our amazing community,
Mrs. Price

Our Hearts Go Out to The Gooch Family
Below went out in an email this morning:
As our hearts are with the Gooch Family, please see the attached on information regarding Cameron's service tomorrow. If your child is attending the service tomorrow, please make sure to call the attendance line to let the school know or communicate this as your reason when you check your child out of school tomorrow. We have several staff that will be attending the service to support the Gooch Family, but will have all student-needs met on campus in our regular school routines as well. As this is a personal family decision to attend, please know we have crisis counselors available on our campus today through Wednesday and as long as we need as we assess the students on our campus.
Cameron's Service Information:
We have also posted resources on our counseling webpage should you need assistance in speaking to your child about Cameron's passing.
As your student processes this event, you may observe your child
- demonstrating sadness, fear and/or confusion,
- acting out or becoming withdrawn,
- exhibiting anger about death, and
- having concern for their own safety.
Some ways you can support your child include
- spending time with your child and assuring their safety,
- talking about this event in an age appropriate context,
- observing conversations, including text messages, your child is having with their peers,
- having an open and honest discussion about feelings, and
- encouraging writing, drawing and journaling.
If you would like to speak to a counselor about how to speak to your child about this loss, please call Mrs. Points. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact campus administration. As we return to our campus routines, we know our Buckalew families will continue to keep the Gooch family in their thoughts as we grieve alongside them as well as support our students on campus during this time.

Buckalew Visitors and Volunteers
Safety is our top concern, and surveillance cameras are placed at all doors and in the hallways of our school. Each camera records all activity. All outside doors are locked including the front doors. Please be sure to have your driver’s license with you during every visit to the campus.
Upon arrival, please see the receptionist for a visitor’s tag. The receptionist will ask for your driver’s license. It will be scanned using a system that is connected to the database that provides an alert of any person who may jeopardize the safety of our campus. If no such alert is discovered, the receptionist will then electronically permit entrance into the building.
Each time you enter the school, please remember to bring your license. The nametag given to you on each visit will show the date and the purpose of your visit. Please know that every visitor must have a name tag, and anyone without it will be stopped. Even though this is time consuming, it is essential to our children’s safety. For your child’s protection, parents and visitors are not allowed to go to their child’s classroom to pick him or her up during or at the end of the day. All check out is through the front office. Please allow students to walk to classrooms independently in the mornings and to go to the designated areas for dismissal in the afternoons.
If you need to pick up your student, you will be asked for your driver’s license. Students will only be released to parents with ID, unless we have written correspondence or an email to brobinson@conroeisd.net with identifying information on who will be picking up the student.
If you plan to be in the building during the school day at any time during the school year, please fill out the volunteer application on the CISD website: https://apps.conroeisd.net/volunteer/. This must be done yearly and will be necessary in order to volunteer in any position on campus.

For emergencies only, e-mail brobinson@conroeisd.net and make sure you get a confirmation that your change was received. Classroom teachers do not always check emails throughout the day or may even be absent and that request would not be received in time. If you have sent a note with your child it is not necessary to e-mail the note to the front office. Thank you.
