Parthenon

Summary

Parthenon was built between in 447 BC.It was dedicated to the City’s guardian (Athena). The temple was constructed to serve as a home for the new cult statue of the goddess. The temple was designed to be in use for more than a thousand years. The word Parthenon means "temple of the virgin".
