Note from Dr. Bland
Dear Paddock Families,
I hope you are all doing well, staying safe and enjoying the spring weather!
We look forward to seeing those students who have chosen to return to In Person learning on Monday, April 12. This start date applies to those families who were previously Virtual and were approved to return to In Person learning. Those that have committed to Virtual Learning will continue as usual from home until the end of the school year. Please know that our staff continues to work hard to make sure our campus is clean and safe for your children. We have worked closely with CCSD15 Administration, our Health Services Coordinators, and our Facilities and Operations teams to make sure Paddock School is following all safety protocols.
- Your child's teacher will provide a "Self Certify Card" on April 12. Please make sure your child has their "Self Certify Card" signed and dated by a parent each day. Lanyards are checked in the car loop, when students get off the bus, and at the arrival doors. If the lanyard is not signed, we will assess each student, have their temperature checked, and give them an entry sticker.
- Make sure your child is wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth and send extra masks.
We hope you understand we need to follow our safety protocols on building visitors. Rest assured we will take excellent care of your children. Please don't hesitate to call if you have any concerns or questions. Below is all the information you need to know regarding what your child's day will look like on campus at Paddock School. The Paddock Staff looks forward to working with you and your children.
Thank you for another great week of learning and all your support!
Warm regards,
Dr. Bland
BrightBytes
Our school is partnering with BrightBytes, a data analytics organization built specifically for K-8 school districts, to provide insights into our new and changing learning environments with the goal of ensuring equitable learning support for all students.
Last year, your participation helped us form a more complete picture of how learning is taking place and has allowed us to create targeted initiatives to support our teachers and students. In order to better understand our progress over the past year and identify next steps for our initiatives, we are asking you to provide your perspective around classroom support and resources.
This year’s survey is designed to capture your perspective around your child’s classroom support and resources (e.g., access to technology, instructional support, and student social-emotional competencies). It doesn’t matter whether your student is learning-- in-person or virtually-- the survey is designed for any learning environment.
We are requesting that you take part in this important school survey. Your responses will remain anonymous to protect your privacy. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
The last day to complete this survey is May 7, 2021. Please respond using the link below:
Your participation is extremely important to us. It will give us a comprehensive understanding of our students’ needs and areas for improvement at our school. As always, thank you for your ongoing support of Stuart R. Paddock School.
Sectioning
Our staff will soon begin to build classes for the 2021-22 school year. This is one of our most important tasks to prepare for the coming year. Throughout the process, our goal is to place students in the best possible learning setting. We try to build classes that are balanced in terms of learning needs and styles, gender, ethnicity, emotional and social development, academic achievement, behavior, and special education needs. Although the process will be starting soon, classroom and teacher assignments will not be finalized or sent to parents until August.
Our placement process is a team effort that is completed with great care and consideration. Teachers review initial lists with specialists to ensure that we have not overlooked any aspect of appropriate placement based on the factors listed above. You may want to share information or specific needs in writing that might help us in the sectioning process. If you wish to provide us with additional information about your child, please submit your letter to me no later than Friday, April 23, 2021. It is very important that we have any information you wish to share by this date. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept letters beyond April 23.
Because it is not possible to grant requests for specific teachers, we ask that your letter focus on your child’s learning style, significant learning experiences for him/her and /or the type of teaching style to which your child responds best. Do not make requests for placement into a specific classroom for your child. Such requests will not be considered, as this opportunity cannot be made available to all children. Please remember that personal statements about individual staff members are wonderful testimonials to our talented staff, but should not be included. We trust that you will rely on our professional judgment as we group the children with the idea of creating the best learning environment for everyone.
If you are moving or plan to move out of Paddock boundaries please fill out our School Transfer form as your notification to the school that you will not be returning. You must fill out this form for us to share information with your new school district.
Thank you to each of you for your continued cooperation, support, and understanding. We look forward to working with you throughout the remainder of the school year.
ALL CHILDREN EAT FREE
The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that all school meals for children will be free through the end of the 2020-21 school year. Because of this announcement, school meals will no longer be charged to a student’s account. All meals will be free to any child under the age of 18, regardless of ability to pay. Children do not need to be present for a parent to pick-up a meal.
Meals are delivered to select locations Monday-Friday.
We know that many of our students are dependent on school meals for nourishment, and in the interest of ensuring this need continues to be met, we have established a schedule for food distribution.
District 15 will deliver food every day, Monday-Friday, through the end of the 2020-21 school year.
- Lunch and breakfast for the following day will be offered daily.
- Menus can be found HERE.
Steam Fair
We will be having a STEAM Day at Paddock this year! This will take place in April and in order to include our virtual and concurrent students, we would like to have a supply pick up for parents/guardians so the students can have everything they need for this fun day! We will have two pick up days:
Tuesday, April 20th 5-6pm
Wednesday, April 21st 6:30-7:00am AND 6-7pm
Please fill out this form if you are willing and able to volunteer during any of these times! Any help is appreciated :) Specific questions, contact Haley Little (littleh@ccsd15.net). Thanks!
