C.I.T.Y. News October 2018
So much is "fall"-ing into place!
C.I.T.Y. News
This past September, we helped facilitate "Our Time: Family and Friends of Children in Therapy" at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. We had our largest turnout yet! These bi-annual events always bring people together with the combination of live music, sensory storytime experiences, and opportunities for family networking. If you missed it this time, hopefully you can join us in the future!
We continue to be grateful to all the members of our committees for helping to plan these upcoming events! As a non-profit organization, we also greatly appreciate the support of local businesses, clinics, and organizations who have begun to contribute sponsorships and financial donations. Many of these physical spaces have also signed up to participate in a separate email list where they will receive a monthly "snapshot" newsletter to print and display on their bulletin boards/parent boards. This will help with our visibility throughout the community while saving on valuable mailing costs...thank you! If your clinic/office is not yet receiving these emails/displaying these snapshots, we encourage you/your office to sign up with this link.
Here are our upcoming events for October!
Remember, all of our events are also listed on our website and on our Google Calendar.
Adult-Only Events
Monthly Parent Coffee Groups
It's official! We now have regional contacts in all five regions of Chicago, and we are planning to host monthly parent coffee groups on a consistent schedule. To find one in your area, look at our flyer below or check our website under the C.I.T.Y. of Community tab. Thank you to the contacts who are donating their time to be an ambassador for their region. Join them and take an hour each month to enjoy some low-key, adult-only conversation and camaraderie. Your group is waiting to greet you with a cup of coffee and a smile.Education Roundtable Series: Real Experiences from the Medical Diagnostic Clinic:
A Variety of Perspectives on Wednesday, 10/10 from 5:00-7:00pm
C.I.T.Y. of Support is committed to fostering the sharing of knowledge from a variety of perspectives. Our Roundtable Series will provide professionals and parents an opportunity to share their experiences in an informative, but casual/friendly environment (snacks provided too). Questions, discussions, and one-on-one conversations will be encouraged towards the end of this adults-only event.
This first topic in our series is called "Real Experiences From the Medical Diagnostic Clinic," as this is a frequent post within the C.I.T.Y. of Support Facebook Group. Come to hear what our knowledgeable panel can share from their own personal experiences and find support resources within our community. This event is applicable for both parents and professionals, and Early Intervention continuing education credits are currently pending approval.
Reserve your spot today. Space is limited.
We hope to post the discussion on YouTube following our meeting, so that even if you are unable to make it to the meeting, you can type in questions and participate virtually.
Rockin' Shoppin' in the C.I.T.Y.-A Holiday Gift Event
Friday evening, 11/2 from 7:30-9:30pm
Holiday shopping has never been this fun! With unique gifts, live music (a ukulele band!), wine tasting, and appetizers we will be able to mingle in the perfect festive and child-free environment. We have commitments from over 20 amazing vendors, all who are contributing at least 10% of their sales to our organization and a raffle basket (at least a $50 value).
All are welcome to this community-building fundraiser: parents, therapists, community members...It will be a great way to meet other people in our C.I.T.Y. of Support while crossing some holiday gifts off our checklists. Reserve your hour of personal shopping indulgence by clicking here to register. Space is limited, so don't wait!
Tickets for the raffle can be purchased in person or online through our website starting in mid-October (in order to accommodate those people who may not be able to attend), and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event. You do not need to be present to win, and items can be picked up at a later date! So many reasons to celebrate and ways to participate in our C.I.T.Y....come kick off the holiday season with us!
