MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe November is here, it feels like school just got started! As excited as we are to have everyone here, please remember if your child is sick to keep them home. Please refer to the district's mitigation plan if you have specific questions about when to keep them home or when the district will require testing to return to school. We know that attendance is important, however, we want healthy kids at school. Thank you for your cooperation!
Reminder
Students are not to have caffeinated beverages while at school. Please do not send them with soda or energy drinks. We have been disposing of a large amount of these in the past few weeks.
Senior Citizens' Thanksgiving Meal
It's back, the Annual Senior Citizens' Thanksgiving Meal, sponsored by the KHS Key Club and Kewaskum Kiwanis Club! Community senior citizens should mark their calendars for this free traditional Thanksgiving meal on Saturday, November 20, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. No RSVP is needed.
Community Survey 2021
Watch your mailbox (the first week in November) for a survey about the operations of the Kewaskum School District and future planning needs. Help us identify
- What are we doing well?
- Where do we need to improve?
- What are the highest planning priorities?
All survey responses are due by November 23, 2021.
November is always filled with so many reminders to be thankful. I hope you all enjoy your time with family and friends in the upcoming month. We hope all the hunters have a safe successful November hunt! If your child will miss school for hunting, please notify the office. Students should check in with their teachers for work missed.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Skelton

Student Services Updates
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, which means our focus here at KMS was to review what bullying is and how we can deal with students who bully others. Classroom guidance lessons focused on educating students about what bullying is, why people bully, and how we should respond to the bully. We then discussed empathy and how important it is to put yourself in other people’s shoes/experiences because we don’t know what others are going through on a daily basis. KMS students celebrated Unity Day on Wednesday, October 20th by wearing orange. Students gave “shout-outs” to their classmates and made a unity chain out of construction paper. The purpose of Unity Day is to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion for all. KMS students also celebrated Red Ribbon Week (October 25-29) which is the largest drug prevention campaign in the nation. Students had dress-up days throughout the week to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. During lunch, students had the opportunity to sign the “Too Smart to Start” banner where they pledge to be “Drug-Free.” The 6th-grade “Pathway to Success” parent/student conferences are well underway. Most of the conferences have been filled. If you have not signed up by November 1st, your child will meet individually with Mrs. Daane.
