A Message From Your Principal
While this Spring Break may be different for families this year, below our PE teachers have created a "virtual field" day for you and your family to enjoy. We hope this give you some ideas as to how to make this week fun for your entire family. Remember this week there will be no newsletters from teachers, nor will there be any online instruction.
There have been some questions that keep reoccurring so I hope this will answer those questions:
1. RCPS is not issuing devices nor loaning devices to elementary children. Sorry that is a county policy at this time.
2. It will take very little WiFi connection and or very little time on the family device for elementary children to participate in online learning opportunity. Teacher Video taped 15 minute lessons (one or two per day) may be viewed when it is best for your families schedule. If you have multiple children, please develop a schedule to help things run smoothly.
3. Please encourage your children to not only do the activities, but submit them back to their teachers. We have loved and appreciate the level of participation.
4. RCPS is NOT allowing zoom, google meets, or any type of "Live Networking" with students. This has created problems in other states, so our division has indicated that we will not use this for online instruction. Likewise, teachers may not give out emails or directing information of their students to other parents in their classes.
5. We will discuss a time for the children to pick up items from school after the spring break.
We are currently developing that plan.
6. After spring break, we have asked teachers to have newsletters that contains all the online learning in a similar format. Hopefully, this will help parents that have children in various grades levels. As always, teachers will email you a link, and it will be posted under each teacher's name on the PKVES website. We will include a direct link from the front page under Distance Learning. We hope this will make it super easy as we appreciate your support. Look for that new format, April 13.
Happy Spring To All
