Wellness Challenge
Week 2: Physical Wellness
Welcome to Week Two!
This is your week 2 Newsletter - It includes events you may attend to gain points for the challenge, as well as reminders and updates from the Wellness and Health Promotion staff. Remember, this year there are 3 events each week: one lunch-time, one evening-time, and one any-time event to cater to everyone's schedule. The challenge is about deciding which points are important to you - pick the events and healthy habits that matter to you!
Week Two is focused on Physical Wellness - There are 3 main components to physical wellness that promote proper care of our bodies for optimal health and functioning:
- physical activity/exercise
- proper nutrition
- adequate rest
Reaching an optimal level of physical wellness allows you to nurture personal responsibility for your own health.

Movement Snacks: Strategies for Combating Sedentary Behavior on the College Campus
Thursday January 21, 2016
12pm-1pm (Feel free to bring your own lunch)
Casey Commons
Dr. Molly Welsh will be discussing the physiological consequences of sedentary behavior, highlighting the concept that people who exercise regularly are still at risk. In her talk, she will review the current research on sedentary behavior and propose interventions that are possible at the Seattle University campus. We invite you to join in for some movement snacks that may increase your awareness of the dangers of physical inactivity and provide you with ideas for minor modifications to daily habits to combat sedentary behaviors. These are snacks that you can take with you to improve multiple dimensions of wellness as a student, teacher, or staff member at SU and beyond.
