Students are Getting Ready for Leadership Day - October 21st

Next Friday October 21st Kipling School will welcome educators and leaders from around the area to join us in the morning for our second annual Leadership Day. Leadership Day gives other educators from the area an opportunity to see and learn about the great things happening at our school. In addition, and more importantly it gives our students an opportunity to share with other educators and leaders what they are doing.

We are happy this year to be welcoming Muriel Summers, Congressman Robert Dold, as well as teachers, principals, and superintendents from around the area.

Kipling Welcomes Muriel Summers on October 20th - Time Change to 7pm

Kipling Elementary School is pleased to welcome Muriel Summers on October 20th at 7pm at Kipling Elementary School. Muriel is the principal at A.B. Combs Elementary School in North Carolina. Muriel is known for being the creator of The Leader in Me, having first started it at her school in Raleigh. Inspiring Learners to Be Leaders: An Evening with Muriel Summers will be an opportunity for our community to hear from the person that started the program that is helping so many Kipling students and students around the world develop the habits and skills they need for a successful future.

Strategic Planning Survey Reminder

The District's strategic planning process is underway. Earlier this week, you should have received an email from the District's research partner, The ECRA Group, who developed the surveys based on information they heard during a series of focus groups they held with stakeholders in September. We want every parent to participate! Please check your email inbox for an email from ECRA (survey@ecragroup.com) and take a few minutes to give your input. The survey closes on October 23.

Halloween at Kipling School

Halloween is Monday October 31st at Kipling School. Students can bring costumes that they will change into after lunch for our Halloween Parade. The Parade will begin at 2pm at Kipling School. All students will make one lap around the building. Please leave some space between the building and you so that the parade can get through.

The parade will begin at 2pm (weather permitting). If it is raining or extremely cold the parade will be cancelled. Hopefully, we will have a great day for it.

Two points on costumes at school:

1. Avoid any bloody or scary costumes. This year, students also should stay away from clown costumes, as the "scary clown" issue earlier this fall created some stress among some students.

2. Be aware of your child's plans for dressing up as both an individual and a group. When 20 students in a grade dress up like the same character or as a group, it can create stress or lead to feelings of exclusion.

Parent Teacher Conference Sign Up is Now Open in Family Access (2nd Posting)
