Butler Pride
Our teachers continue to answer 'the call' - in what was basically two-day's notice, they planned a week's worth of meaningful activities while learning the online component, populated grab bags, researched outside/online resources - all while continuing to teach leading-up to our last day in school. As a result, our students' days have been filled with great activities (while still sharing those important opportunities for some family time). This community has showed amazing resilience - and the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from families has been great. On behalf of all the teachers and staff, "Thank you!"
There were still issues to connect and many families are doing your best - which is wonderful to hear. We learned there was a lot to do on each given day, so you did what you could. We all know it needs to be a healthy balance of review, practice, and repetition. As such, Week-2 will be abbreviated in the amounts assigned, keeping time allocations shorter than last week, hopefully. Continue to do your best with no pressure to complete everything. Again, this is optional.
Reach out to the teachers and administrators with questions - and thanks for sharing photos of your Distance Learners!
Distance Learning - Heading Into Week 2
COVID-19 Update - School Activities Postponed
Decisions across the area are coming at the State and local levels at (seemingly) a lightning pace. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as the District and Schools make decisions and plans. Keep practicing Social Distancing to help our hospitals and care-centers manage the impact of the illness.
As a result of Central Bucks' suspension of Before, After and Weekend Activities through April 14th (at the time of this publication), please note the following:
- Butler Musical, Annie, Jr. - Performances and Rehearsals - have been postponed (with the hope to reschedule at a later date).
- Butler PTO 3/21 Spring Fair has been postponed (with the hope to reschedule at a later date).
- Butler iRun4Life Club - Will begin the week of April 14, (subject to change)
- Reading Olympics - Central Bucks Schools will not be participating this year (no plan to reschedule at this time).
- All Field Trips have been cancelled across the District - both in-district and out-of-district trips.
- All Parent Volunteering, Mystery Readers, Classroom Helpers, etc. - We have been notified to suspend these types of activities through April 14th.
- Additionally, Superintendent Kopicki's "Community Connection" Spring Meeting on April 16th - Cancelled
Due to the State shut-down, reschedulings for the above will need to be determined at a later date. Additionally, our other future school and PTO events will also need to be reviewed. In all cases, we will follow and apply state/district protocols in all decisions.

Butler Bear Physical Education News
Students in grades K-2 celebrated Dr. Seuss’s Birthday in PE class by traveling to 10 activity stations. Each station represented a different Dr. Seuss book. Students in grades 3-6 have been playing team scooter games like castle ball and scooter handball.
The Library Corner - Butler Library Updates
Fourth grade students have been learning about “plagiarism” in Library. Plagiarism means to take someone else’s words, ideas, or work and pretend it is yours. Through various games and activities, fourth graders have demonstrated understanding of this concept and the importance of “giving credit” when appropriately using the words, work, and ideas of others. Now, more than ever before, with so much information at our fingertips, it is essential for our students to be ethical users of information and ideas.
School Health Update
The best remedy in avoiding sickness is proper handwashing. This should be done for at least 20 seconds, or by singing the Happy Birthday or the ABC song twice while washing. Additionally, instruct your child to keep their hands away from their face (nose/mouth/eyes) as this is how any viruses/germs enter our body. It is advised your child cover their cough, best to use a tissue then wash their hands, if a tissue is not available then they should cough in their sleeve or elbow.
Upon return to school, if your child is sick, please keep them home. We are also discouraging giving “high fives” or shaking hands in an effort to help stop the spread of any virus or germ. Should you have any questions please contact the health room at 267-893-4265.
