Stacy Swilley, Drug & Alcohol Counselor
The ongoing COVID-19 situation has created a great deal of stress and uncertainty for students and parents of GKHS, which increases the risk of misusing drugs and alcohol. I am continuing to provide information, resources, and individual counseling via phone and Zoom to students who are at-risk, actively using substances, or affected by other’s substance use. Services are confidential and available to all GKHS students and parents.
Need to see your counselor, social worker, career counselor, or career center specialist? We are available to meet with students and parents virtually! Schedule a virtual appointment online at the GKHS Counseling Center website. We can meet with you using Facetime, Google Hangouts, or Zoom. Additionally, important numbers include Pierce County Crisis Line (1-800-576-7764) or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 24/7 (1-800-273-8255).

Storytime with a Sheriff: Deputy Dech (one of our amazing School Resource Officers) wanted to share this book with the kids in our community because when she was in school she had what some people thought was a problem – she is dyslexic. It made things challenging for her, the same way it makes things challenging for many other people just like her. But she never gave up, she worked hard, she tried her best, and she learned to turn her challenges into opportunities. You can too and we believe in you! https://www.facebook.com/piercecounty.sheriff/videos/702694547170966/UzpfSTk2NDI5MDU0ODkxOjEwMTU3NjUxMzk0MzY5ODky/
Bond Update: Just over a year ago, voters in our district approved a School Construction Bond that will build three brand new schools in the coming years. Money from the bond will also be used to renovate and expand five other schools. The first school, Elementary #18, will open its doors in the fall of 2021. https://medium.com/@BethelSD/burning-down-the-house-16914f98b427
