The images from the 1850's aim to show the contrast between the common perception of blacks to the truth, by showing them as barbaric and uneducated, when in reality they are nurturing and put in the same effort as other races.
This picture shows how an African American is caring for a young white girl by setting her on his lap and talking to her.
The picture to the left shows a white girl and a black man interacting in a way that is not barbaric and it shows the black man as a well kept individual and not a mess like some perceive them to be.
This image shows a black woman dancing and has a quote that states "I is so wicked!" Which shows the woman as uneducated and disorganized.

In the picture above, the text relates the knife with the book Uncle Tom's Cabin which shows that the authors of the advertisement think of blacks to be like a knife in a certain way.
The picture above displays the young black kids acting barbaric from the eyes of a white man, but Stowe aims to alter these eyes to be similar to hers, and see innocent child's play.
